Activity
Next time you need a quick activity to fill 30 minutes AND develop some cognitive capacities try this; have your child draw a map of his room WITHOUT entering his room. Doing this by memory will promote more critical thinking. Talk about:
· The shape of the room
· The shape of items in the room
· The relative size of the items in the room – how big is the bed compared to the bookshelf?
Extension: this activity can also help encourage creativity. Start with a new blank page and ask your child how they might change things in the room to make it even better. What would he keep? What would he add? The sky’s the limit!
