Most kids’ songs have fairly simple rhyming lyrics, and changing the lyrics up can be a fun activity. Pick a song that your child knows well, and, together, write out the words. Then, talk about how you could change some words to make it funny or weird or different. Help your child to make sure you maintain the right number of syllables to make the song work and keep the same rhyming scheme. Once you’ve re-written your song, you can decide if it’s going to be your own secret song or if you are ready to share it with an audience.
