Have your children help with household repairs, handyman duties, gardening chores. Parent models patience and systematic approach to solving problems, as well as finding pleasure in what some might consider mundane tasks. Children shouldn’t work with sharp tools, of course, but can help tighten or loosen screws, do closely monitored hammering, digging, planting, weeding, etc. At every step of the process, discuss what you are doing and why.
